The history Oșorhei was influenced by its vicinity to the town of Oradea. The first documentary mentioning of the villages that currently make up Osorhei date around 1202-1203 and refers to Alparea, Cheriu and Felcheriu. Later, in 1236, in various documents the first references to villages and Fughiu Osorhei are found. In 1692, after defeating the Turks, the city of Oradea and the surrounding villages - including the territory of Oșorhei - were merged into the Habsburg Empire.
Oșorhei is located in the center of Bihor County, North - West Development Region. In Oradea Metropolitan Area, Oșorhei is located in the south-east, bordering to the north the villages Paleu and Ineu, to the west Oradea and Sînmartin, to the south Hidişelu de Sus and to the east with Copăcel and Săcădat.
Osorhei develops on the national and European route E60 (DN1) and railway 300, being located at a distance of about 9 km from Oradea.
Oşorhei is made up by five villages: Oşorhei (administrative seat), Fughiu, Alparea, Cheriu and Felcheriu. Of these, the villages that register the highest number of inhabitants are Oşorhei and Alparea.
Oşorhei can be reached by the european road E60 Bucureşti – Braşov – Sibiu – Cluj Napoca – Oradea – Borş. E60 (DN1). The road gives access to the villages Oşorhei şi Fughiu. In order to reach Cheriu, Alparea and Felcheriu the following routes are available:

Osorhei can be reached also by railways, the community being crossed by the main railway 300 linking Bucharest to Borș, through Brasov, Mediaș, Cluj-Napoca.Approximate distance to Oradea International Airport is 15.5 km.
The total area of Osorhei is 64.92 km2 occupying a rate of 8.6% of the total area of the Oradea Metropolitan Area. The most extensive village at the local level is the village of Osorhei, its development being favored by the easy access.
Osorhei occupies an area of 0.9% of the total area in Bihor county.Osorhei is located on the course of Crişului Repede River, in a hilly area, that extends from the Apuseni Mountains. At an altitude of 126 m above sea level Oşorheiul is located at the opening of Crişului Repede Valley to the plain area, in a contact area between the Apuseni Mountains and Banat plains and Crișana plains, transition area from a hilly landscape (Western Hills Oradea Hills) to the plain.
Climate in Osorhei is determined by Western winds, so the climate is temperate continental one with an annual average temperature of 10.3°C. The average temperature for July is 21°C, while in January the average is of -1.7°C. Recorded average annual rainfall is of 585.4 mm, quite high compared to a similar flat area.
